Stuck in Godforsaken Missouri

As we all know, I adore my work. My work, here, in St. Louis. But I need to go somewhere soon.

I don't care if any of you come with me, I'm happy traveling alone. I just need that change of pace every so often and my travel bug competes with my bejesus for top billing. Right now, the travel bug is winning. I need to go somewhere for my own sanity and for the safekeeping of those around me. I need to travel somewhere soon.

Somewhere smothered in life I don't see every day. Somewhere with architecture and paintings I've only seen in books. I don't need to go anywhere for very long, just a few days on a weekend is perfectly fine.

St. Petersburg calls my name. Istanbul sings to me in my sleep. The Loire Valley is good. Florence is better. Prague makes me drool.

But, I'll totally take Chicago about now.

Why do you think I went to Chicago in September? If I didn't get out and go somewheres, I was going to lose it. I'm going to see my friend in Idaho soon, somehow, someway or I'm going to go nuts here.

Idaho is gorgeous! You think it's all potato farmland (okay, maybe just I did)and then you go there and wow! Mountains! It's sooo beautiful. I went last March and fell in love. The cold there is so nice that you can have four feet of snow on the ground but still walk around with your coat unbuttoned. GO! GO! To Idaho!

We found the best flights went through Salt Lake City, but then again, who knows now.

Me either, and Nashville, because they have a full scale Parthenon with the huge Athena statue.

I'm in!

They have this fabulous hotel in Memphis called the Peabody and it has all of these neat-o torpedo rooms and I think it has the trolley running by it. We must adventure there, ladies!

The Peabody also has ducks in the front entryway. They lead these ducks out to the fountain on a red carpet.

Graceland, totally tacky, but hey, it's Graceland, and you have to go. It keeps the economy running, the need to see famous tacky places.
